Early Days
MoorVision was set up as a voluntary group in Jan 2007 by Laura Hughes, now the Charity's Executive Director, having realised the lack of information and support as a parent herself of a child with vision impairment (now aged 25!) in rural Devon. The group started with five families and has grown quickly since that time.
Our families
MoorVision currently has over 250 families receiving support, who have children with a wide range of vision impairments and many with additional needs. We also have a small group of parent/carers with vision impairment. Our families mostly come from Devon, Torbay, Plymouth and Cornwall with a few from Somerset and Dorset.
Staff, Trustees and Volunteers
MoorVision is run by a small but close-knit team of staff and overseen by our board of trustees (including parent/carers of children with vision impairments, young people with vision impairments and vision impairment and other professionals). We also have volunteers who assist with activities and administration.

Laura
Laura set up MoorVision in 2007
and is our Chief Executive Officer.
Ali
Ali is our Finance and Fundraising Administrator.
She joined MoorVision in 2017.
Hannah
Hannah is our Family Support
Officer and joined MoorVision
in 2020.
Rebecca
Rebecca is one of our Activity Coordinators
and joined MoorVision in 2026.
Kat
Kat joined us in 2021
and is our other Activity Coordinator.

Moorvision invests in its staff training and personal development with a number of courses and training opportunities. We are a certified CPD Training Investor.
