Early Days
Moorvision was set up as a voluntary group in Jan 2007 by Laura Hughes, now the Charity's Managing Director, having realised the lack of information and support as a parent herself of a vision impaired child (now aged 21!) in rural Devon. The group started with five families and has grown quickly since that time.
Our families
Moorvision currently has over 170 families receiving support, who have children with a wide range of vision impairments and many with additional needs. We also have a small group of vision impaired parent/carers. Our families mostly come from Devon, including Torbay and Plymouth, with a few from Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset.
Staff, Trustees and Volunteers
Moorvision is run by a small but close-knit team of staff and overseen by our board of trustees (all parent/carers of children with vision impairments, young people with vision impairments and vision impairment professionals). We also have volunteers who assist with activities and administration.
