‘I can do it’ course!
Would you like to…….
……Meet other young people with visual impairments and make friends?
……take time to learn new life skills and increase your confidence?
……have fun along the way?
Then read on!
We are very excited to be running I can do it, an independence course for 12–19 year olds.
What is it?
The course is a great way to learn about friendships, safety, doing things for yourself, cooking and starting to think about growing up – all through fun activities!
The course covers:
• Social and emotional skills
• Keeping safe at home, outside and online
• Living independently with a visual impairment
• Kitchen skills
• Dreaming in colour – transitions, goals and aspirations
We will also hold a parent/carer’s workshop to provide information about the course, and you’ll get a certificate at the end!
The course will be run over two days, Saturday the 12th June and Saturday the 10th July from 10:30am – 4pm. The venue will be the Kenn Centre, just off the A38 near Exeter. The course will be free to attend, and lunch and snacks will be provided.
The course is being run with the support of Henshaws (a charity supporting children and young people with Visual Impairments in the North of England).
